FABRY PROGRAM
Who are we?
The Albany Medical Center is an academic health
sciences center that has a mission of providing excellence in medical
education, biomedical research, and patient care. The Fabry Program
at Albany Medical Center has been created to provide those services.
We are a nationally recognized institution.
The Fabry Program makes a concerted effort to educate
the medical community and the general public through medical lectures,
correspondence, web sites and health fairs. Our outreach efforts are
to assist individuals who may be afflicted with a rare disorder. The
Fabry Program networks with Treatment Centers throughout the world.
We are here to assist you, answer your questions and address your
concerns.
How can we help you?
Fabry Disease is usually diagnosed later in adult
life. Early diagnosis of Fabry disease allows for early intervention
and thus improves quality of life and maybe life saving.
We have the ability to test individuals in the
U.S., who have a positive family history or have symptoms, confirmed
by a physician. If the blood
test is positive
for Fabry disease, the program will assist the individual to find
state-of-the-art treatment and care. We can facilitate testing worldwide.
Our program has educational information available
to the general public as well as to professionals across the United
States.
If you have concerns about Fabry disease, have
a family history, or feel you may have it, please contact us. We will
do our best to help address your concerns.
